Spreo

Playful collaborative whiteboard for agile teams

Overall score
5.3

Overview

Spreo (formerly Metro Retro, then Ludi — renamed Spreo on 1 July 2026 for trademark reasons) is a visual agile collaboration whiteboard with 100+ templates spanning retros, planning poker, icebreakers and futurespectives. Its signature illustrated canvas and gadgets make ceremonies feel engaging, and a first AI feature — sticky-note clustering — shipped February 2026.

Best for: Agile teams who want retros, planning and workshops to feel visual and fun, with a solid Jira-backed delivery loop.

How Spreo describes itself

Spreo — Metro Retro until Aug 2025, then Ludi, and renamed Spreo on 1 July 2026 (for trademark reasons — and because, per the vendor, the Spreo starling is a cool bird) — pitches itself as the online whiteboard for agile teams that is "more interesting than whatever your team has open in the other tab."

"The Online Whiteboard For Agile Teams — Planning. Refinement. Retros."

It targets scrum masters, developers, product owners, engineering managers, agile coaches, delivery managers and product designers, leaning on a 100+ template library spanning retros, sprint planning, refinement, planning poker, standups, story mapping and icebreakers, with Jira-backed refinement and estimation front and centre. The voice stays deliberately warm and playful — gestures, gadgets, and an illustrated canvas — positioned against drier rivals.

Our take

Spreo — the product you may know as Metro Retro or Ludi, renamed on 1 July 2026 — remains one of the most charming visual ceremony experiences on the market, and the latest change is a name, not a rebuild: the team says the product, company and roadmap are unchanged, and old ludi.co links redirect. The template library spans retros, icebreakers, planning poker, story mapping, standups and refinement, and the Jira integration genuinely supports two-way sync, estimation and issue creation. The one AI feature — Sort into Topics, which auto-groups stickies into labelled clusters — shipped February 2026 and carries over.

Through the agile-buyer lens, gaps remain: no built-in health check or longitudinal pulse product, no AI summaries, action-item extraction or sentiment, no async or recurring retros, and integrations beyond Jira are absent. SAML SSO and domain controls land on paid plans, but SCIM and audit logs are not advertised. Best for live, visual ceremonies on top of a Jira-driven backlog — less suited to organisations needing async retros, cross-team rollups, deeper AI tooling, or a hardened enterprise control plane.
